Job summary

Teradata is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and testing of new enhancements for the Teradata SQL Engine. You will lead feature development, guide a team of engineers, and ensure robust, high-performance database products in an agile environment.

The role focuses on kernel areas, query optimization, and cloud-based data management, with collaboration across architecture and product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; with extensive research or industry experience
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; with extensive research or industry experience
• D. in Computer Science or related discipline; with extensive research or industry experience
• Technical leadership in cloud-based data management, query processing and optimization

Responsibilities

• Owns design, development, and testing of new enhancements and advanced features for the Teradata SQL Engine
• Researches and establishes technical direction for complex feature development and analyzes functional and performance issues
• Designs and implements core database kernel areas and novel query optimization features
• Leads a group of software engineers during feature development and tracks large projects
• Contributes to delivery and continuous support of robust, resilient database products
• Collaborates with feature manager on plans, status updates, and project progress
• Ensures high-quality database products through rigorous testing and performance analysis
