Job responsibilities

API, UI, and End-to-End Test Engineering

  • Design, develop, and execute test strategies across REST APIs, backend services, and user-facing workflows.
  • Validate API behavior, request and response contracts, authentication flows, error handling, data validation, and service integration behavior.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, exploratory, and release-readiness testing across development, staging, and production-like environments.
  • Test end-to-end SaaS workflows spanning frontend interactions, backend APIs, database state, asynchronous processing, and external integrations.
  • Identify gaps in product behavior, requirements, observability, and test coverage, and work with engineering teams to close those gaps.
  • Create clear, repeatable test cases and validation procedures for new features, defect fixes, releases, and production issue follow-up.

Playwright Automation and Test Framework Development

  • Build, maintain, and expand automated test suites using Playwright for both UI workflow automation and API-level validation.
  • Develop reusable test utilities, fixtures, data setup patterns, assertions, and reporting practices to support scalable automation.
  • Help define standards for reliable automation including test isolation, environment awareness, retry strategy, test data management, and failure diagnostics.
  • Automate high-value regression scenarios and release validation workflows while balancing maintainability and execution time.
  • Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with engineering teams to improve pipeline reliability and feedback loops.
  • Analyze flaky tests, false positives, environment failures, and test framework issues, and implement improvements to increase automation trustworthiness.

Release Validation, Test Management, and Defect Lifecycle

  • Manage test cases, test plans, execution results, traceability, and defect reporting using Jira and Zephyr.
  • Support sprint-level validation, release candidate testing, hotfix validation, and regression coverage planning.
  • Document defects clearly with reproduction steps, expected and actual behavior, logs, screenshots, request payloads, response payloads, and environment details.
  • Partner with product owners, developers, SRE, and support teams to clarify acceptance criteria and risk areas before release.
  • Provide quality status, risk assessments, and release recommendations based on test results, defect severity, and system readiness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, release gates, regression strategy, and test coverage metrics.

Performance, Load, and Reliability Testing

  • Plan and execute performance, load, and scalability testing for APIs, backend services, and critical workflows.
  • Use tools such as k6, Locust, JMeter, Gatling, or comparable platforms to validate throughput, latency, error rates, and saturation behavior.
  • Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to interpret performance results, identify bottlenecks, and validate remediation efforts.
  • Test system behavior under concurrency, burst traffic, degradation scenarios, retry conditions, and dependency failures.
  • Help define performance baselines, regression thresholds, and repeatable load-test scenarios for release confidence.
  • Analyze application logs, metrics, traces, API responses, database behavior, and infrastructure signals during test execution.

Backend Troubleshooting and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Analyze logs, API traces, service errors, deployment changes, and environment configuration issues to assist with defect triage.
  • Work closely with backend engineers to validate fixes, isolate root causes, and improve testability of services.
  • Collaborate with SRE and DevOps teams on environment readiness, deployment validation, monitoring signals, and operational quality.
  • Participate in Agile planning, estimation, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and quality-focused design discussions.
  • Contribute to documentation for test plans, automation practices, release validation, defect patterns, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Support a culture of shared ownership where quality is embedded throughout development rather than limited to late-cycle validation.
