Jabil in Mexico is seeking a Sr. Automation Manager to lead automation design, development, and optimization across manufacturing and operations. You will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality through advanced automation technologies.

You will oversee a team of automation engineers and technicians, develop a comprehensive strategy, and manage projects from concept to deployment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial automation, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, motion control).
  • Strong knowledge of various industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Experience with vision systems, data acquisition, and MES is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop technical staff.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.

  • Develop and implement standardized automation procedures, documentation, and training.
  • Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards and regulations.

Job Summary

The Sr. Automation Manager will lead the design, development, implementation, and optimization of automation solutions across manufacturing and operational processes. This role focuses on driving efficiency, reducing costs, and improving product quality through advanced automation technologies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of automation engineers and technicians, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of automation projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through the application of automation technologies (e.g., robotics, PLCs, SCADA, vision systems, MES).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, IT, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration and successful project delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate automation hardware, software, and vendors, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Develop and implement standardized automation procedures, documentation, and training programs for operational staff.
  • Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Ensure all automation solutions comply with relevant safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial automation, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
