Markem-Imaje seeks a Software Solution Engineer to design and configure software per customer specs, test and document solutions, and manage installations through project delivery.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Solution Consultant and Project Manager, and providing ongoing support for on-site deployments. Requires statement of strong English skills and a background in software engineering.

Formación

• Software engineering background with knowledge of SQL relational databases and OO languages (.NET, Java, Python).
• Ability to learn new software tools quickly and work with packaging industry tech.
• Fluent in English and able to interact with customers and OEM partners.
• Experience testing, installing and validating software solutions.

Solution Engineer

The Role

A Software Solution Engineer designs and configures software solutions based on customer specific requirements and agreed specifications, performs testing of the configured solution, writes solution technical documentation and stores the software solutions in designated folders. The Solution Engineer is responsible for the software installations until completion of the customer agreed configured solution. The Solution Engineer supports the Solution Consultant and the Project Manager in reviewing the technical specifications, efforts required and in liaising with customers and OEM partners whenever required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review final sales proposal document before starting design and configuration, and escalation to immediate manager/project manager for any issue
• Write the Detailed Design Specification documentation based on the required Software deliverables for the project
• Strategically execute the software engineering process and activities aligned with the agreed project plan set by the project manager
• Meet the customer’s expectation within the development and configuration schedule and budget
• Escalate out of scope requests to the project manager for approval
• Utilize Standard Solution Packages as the starting point for configuration or Solution Engineering work on all customer projects
• Responsible for performing in-house verification of the configured solutions
• Install CoLOS software solutions at customer sites when necessary; this may require on-site installation for certain customers and certain projects requiring more complex CoLOS solutions
• Handover of the configured solution for review and validation with the Service Delivery Engineer
• Creation and delivery of the hand-off package for the Customer Service Helpdesk
• Support escalated installation, FAT and SAT issues
• Contribute to the Solution Engineering standards project as well as other specific projects to improve process and tools

Qualifications:

• Software Engineering background with knowledge on SQL relational databases and one or more object-oriented programing languages: .NET (preferred), Windows Workflow, JAVA, Python
• Aptitude for quickly learning new software tools and computer hardware
• Knowledgeable in packaging industry and supply chain automation
• Experience in developing/configuring software solutions, including ability to test, install and validate performance against project deliverables
• Understanding of software development and service delivery methodology
• Must be fluent in English
• Acts in a professional manner and enhances customer satisfaction
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels for the organization
• Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment
• Direct customer interface experience preferred
• Documentation skills a MUST

Requirements:

• The position may require up to 20% travel, and may include domestic and international travel, and will occasionally involve air travel

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor or comparable degree in Computer Science (Electrical, Software, Computer or Automation) or proven experience in a previous function
• Experience with packaging line equipment in food/beverage packaging industries preferred
• Proven track record of developing, testing and installing software solutions
• Proven track record of fault-finding and problem solving

Computer Skills:

• Microsoft Workflow or Visual Basic process flow programming tool
• MS SQL Databases and ODBC
• Communication with PLC systems via OPC
• TCP/IP
• MS Windows OS
