Job summary

Tetra Pak in Aguascalientes, Mexico, seeks a Service Engineer to keep essential food processing lines running reliably. You will work at customer sites, diagnose issues, and empower operators through training while traveling up to 90% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Up to 5 years of maintenance, service, or installation experience.
  • Solid foundation in mechanical, electrical, and automation principles including PLCs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time.
  • English language optional but beneficial; training opportunities may arise.

Responsibilities

  • Execute installation, commissioning and validation for Capital Equipment at customer sites.
  • Lead engineer for complex capital equipment installations at customer sites.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance, reinstating equipment to production per service targets.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electro-mechanical and automation issues, perform root cause analysis.
  • Provide production support and breakdown service at customer sites.
  • Install automation upgrade kits and reinstate lines into production.
  • Conduct operator and maintenance training, remotely or on-site.
  • Identify business opportunities and inform SKAM for potential growth.
  • Coordinate with Services Account Representative to manage contract profitability and performance.
  • Promote safe working culture and comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure product quality and food safety standards are met.
  • Maintain daily contact with customer and manage reports with proper handover.

As a Service Engineer, you will be part of our Customer Service Operations team, working directly at customer sites to keep essential food processing and packaging lines running reliably. Your work contributes to ensuring uninterrupted food production - a vital link in global food systems that support hundreds of millions of consumers every day. You will operate as an individual contributor, partnering closely with customer teams and internal experts to secure equipment performance, minimize downtime, and strengthen long-term customer trust.

You may be required to travel to customer sites up to 90% of your time.

What you will do
  • Execute installation, commissioning and performance validation for Capital Equipment installations at customer sites.
  • Can act as lead engineer for complex capital equipment installations at customer sites.
  • Lead, plan, coordinate and execute preventive maintenance activities, ensuring compliance to the agreed scope of delivery. Reinstate equipment / lines into production according to agreed service targets
  • Execute analysis, restore basic conditions or troubleshoot to resolve mechanical, electro-mechanical and automation issues in connection with the Remote Support if needed. Conduct systematic root cause analysis of problems to enable permanent resolution. Promptly report and manage all discovered Technical Issues and, when needed, elevate to next appropriate level in a timely manner providing a Problem Solution Methodology to ensure rapid resolution
  • Perform production support / breakdown on customer site.
  • Execute installation of complex automation upgrade kits, in connection with the Remote Support, according to procedures and reinstate lines into production according to agreed service targets.
  • Conduct operator & maintenance customer training, physically or remotely.
  • Participate actively in looking for business opportunities and share them with Services Key Account Managers (SKAM). Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of existing services and solutions.
  • Follow-up operationally the contracts leading, take decisions with the Services Account Representative & SKAM to manage proactively the outcome of the contract (profitability and/or performance)
  • Promote a safe working culture in the team and execute all work in accordance with Tetra Pak and Customer safety regulations and requirements.
  • Execute all work in accordance with Tetra Pak standards and requirements regarding product quality and food safety. Address all discovered food safety, quality assurance and regulatory issues.
  • Lead the daily contact and operational relationship with your designated customer contact
  • Comply with all reporting requirements in an accurate and timely way. Distribute reports according to existing procedures and ensure that proper handover is done.
  • Always Act as an ambassador for Tetra Pak, ensuring good working relationships with the customer and Tetra Pak colleagues and that Tetra Pak’s reputation is sustained
We believe you have
  • A background in Mechatronics, Automation, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in maintenance, service, or installation roles, or equivalent hands on exposure through technical training or practical projects.
  • A solid foundation in mechanical, electrical, and automation principles, with familiarity in areas such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) or similar.
  • The ability and willingness to travel extensively to customer sites as required for the role, up to 90% of the time;
  • Intermediate proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is ideal but not mandatory. Candidates with this skill may benefit from training opportunities and potential international exposure.
  • A valid driver’s license;
  • A proactive, customer first mindset, with strong problem solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
