Job summary

Petco’s Infrastructure Operations & Engineering team seeks a senior Windows Software Engineer to manage and harden our enterprise Windows server estate across on-premises and cloud environments. You will be hands-on, automate with PowerShell, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep systems secure and reliable.

The role emphasizes incident ownership, patching and lifecycle management, AD and PKI activities, and close cooperation with security, cloud, database, and network teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience configuring and supporting enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Microsoft Active Directory.
• PowerShell scripting and automation skills for administration and reporting.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and/or Nutanix AHV.
• Familiarity with ITSM and production change management processes.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
• Manage virtual machine provisioning, migration, lifecycle, and decommissioning across VMware and Nutanix AHV, GCP, and AWS.
• Support server standards, provisioning processes, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex server issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with application, database, network, storage, cloud, and security teams to resolve cross-platform issues.
