Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding engineering and fabrication, preferably in heavy industry.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification is required.
• Proficient in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and related welding processes.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, material science and heat treatments.
• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints and welding symbols.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with CAD software and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize welding and fabrication processes for quality and efficiency.
• Develop and implement welding procedures and specifications (WPS/PQR).
• Conduct welder qualification and certification activities.
• Provide technical guidance to welding and fabrication teams.
• Troubleshoot welding-related issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME standards.
• Evaluate new welding technologies, equipment and materials.
• Collaborate with design engineering to review weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material testing and failure analysis related to welding and fabrication.
• Train personnel on best practices in welding and fabrication techniques.
