Qualcomm Intl Inc., Mexico Branch Office is seeking a Senior Storage & Backup engineer to manage multi-vendor storage and data protection infrastructures. The role requires expertise in NetApp, Dell Isilon, Pure Storage, VAST, Cohesity, Veeam, NetBackup and related backup technologies.

The candidate will join a global 24/7 IT Operations team, provide Tier1/2 support, and participate in a weekend on-call rotation. This is a 100% on-site position at the Mexico City office.

Formación

• 3+ years IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years IT-related work experience with a Master’s degree.

Responsabilidades

• Provides Tier1/Tier2 support to storage and backup technologies infrastructure.
• On-call rotation on weekends and holidays (8/5 schedule).
• 100% on-site work position.
• Monitor and troubleshoot service availability, capacity, and reliability.
• Handle performance issues on storage/backup systems and resolve backup/restore failures.
• Coordinate with multiple teams and vendor support for fast resolution of incidents.
• Upgrade/patch management for storage and backup systems.
• Triage tickets in ServiceNow with defined SLA/KPI.
• Communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally.
• Adapt to changing environments and technologies.
• Create reports/dashboards and maintain knowledgebase documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to improve efficiency.

General Summary:

Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Storage & Backup engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience in operating and managing multi-vendor large scale Storage and Backup Infrastructure. Proficiency in storage technologies including NetApp, Dell, Pure, VAST and Backup systems including Cohesity, Veeam, NetBackup and Networker.

Job Description:

This person will be a member of a global 24/7/365 IT infrastructure Operations team focused on enterprise Storage, backup, and recovery. This role specifically focuses primarily on administrating and providing support for Enterprise Storage & Data protection and recovery. Our Senior IT engineers can expect to work with cutting edge technology in a large, fast-paced, and dynamic enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provides Tier1/Tier2 support to the storage and backup technologies infrastructure.
• 8/5- with mandatory on-call participation on weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
• This is a 100% work from office position.
• Monitor and troubleshoot service availability, capacity, and reliability.
• Efficiently handle performance issues on storage and backup systems
• Monitoring Backup systems for backup/restore failures and resolution on daily basis.
• Involvement in critical incidents and collaboration with multiple teams, vendor support for fast and quality resolution.
• Upgrade/ Patch management of Storage and Backup systems.
• Addressing Tickets (incidents, Changes and Service Requests) in ServiceNow with defined SLA/ KPI
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and technologies.
• Skilled in generating custom reports/dashboards and Knowledgebase documentation.
• Working with various vendors

Prospective candidate should be technically sound in the following:

• Provision, migration and decommission of Storage and Backup systems
• NetApp cluster mode, Dell Isilon, Pure Storage and VAST Storage
• Cohesity Data Protect, Dell EMC Networker, Veeam, NetBackup
• Tape libraries from vendors like Oracle and Spectra logic or similar
• Snapmirror/Snapvault and Disaster Recovery (including Disaster Recovery of Backup catalogs)
• Knowledge on Server OS (Linux and/or Solaris)
• Relevant storage certifications (i.e. NetApp Certified Data Administrator), Dell, Pure, Cohesity or similar.

Prospective candidates having following is an added advantage:

• Strong knowledge of automation methodologies, scripting languages, and tooling.
• Scripting knowledge (Bash, Perl, Python or PowerShell)
• Basic knowledge on Splunk queries and Splunk dashboards
• Any other skills that support storage and backup, not covered above.
• Basic knowledge on Ansible is desired.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently while making sound decisions
• Willingness to learn new technologies and processes, quickly and apply them.
• Ability to work seamlessly with both vendors and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with cross-functional team to achieve common objectives
• Identify and drive efficiency improvement initiatives
• Ability to escalation critical issues to internal and/or 3rd-parties, as appropriate, and communicate status and resolution to the team.
• Comfortable working in a performance-based and structured environment while demonstrating high ethical standards
• Good knowledge of industry tools

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of IT-related work experience with a bachelor’s degree.

OR

5+ years of IT-related work experience with a master’s degree.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
