Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Python Engineer to architect and deliver an AI-powered financial assistant platform. You will own end-to-end backend delivery within a small, high-performing team and influence product direction.

You will design robust APIs, implement LLM-driven workflows, and enforce security controls for sensitive data while maintaining high quality and velocity against evolving requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Python.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring in senior teams.
• Proven design experience for production backend services and APIs.
• Deep FastAPI experience or strong Python web framework knowledge.
• Hands-on AI-DLC and Gen AI workflows; experience with LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of backend services for AI-powered financial assistant platform.
• Define scalable architecture balancing quality, latency, reliability and cost for AI features.
• Build production-grade APIs using Python and FastAPI with testing and observability.
• Implement LLM-powered workflows with safeguards, validation, and failure handling.
• Drive code quality via reviews and maintainable engineering practices.
