Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Web Development Expert for a fully remote contract role. You will craft pixel-perfect HTML/CSS, implement responsive layouts, and review code for accessibility and performance across devices.

You will render reference pages, judge replications at 1920px, analyze layout fidelity, and provide evidence-based justifications. A background in frontend or full-stack work with 3–8 years' experience and strong JavaScript and DevTools skills are expected.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of professional web development experience in frontend or full-stack roles.
• Fluency with legacy layouts and modern responsive design.
• Hands-on HTML and CSS with semantic markup, flexbox, grid, media queries.
• Strong browser DevTools proficiency.
• CLI skills: local server setup and debugging.
• Solid JavaScript knowledge to read and reason about DOM scripts.
• Professional written English for task justification.

Responsibilities

• Render a reference page and two candidate replications at 1920×1080, compare accuracy.
• Assess visual fidelity: box model, typography, color, images, z-index, and overflow.
• Read and grade source attempts; differentiate correct replication from superficial one.
• Test responsiveness and identify defects like nav collapsing at smaller viewports.
• Provide evidence-based justifications for each preference with explicit examples.
• Determine feasibility and communicate when task is unsalvageable.
