Job summary

Panthr is seeking an experienced Java Support Engineer to join our application support team in an L2/L3 capacity. The role focuses on Java 8/17, Unix/Linux, SQL, and proactive production support.

You will analyze and resolve issues, automate manual processes, and collaborate with development, management, users, and stakeholders to improve reliability, performance, and incident management in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience in L2/L3 application support or similar production support role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8 and/or Java 17.
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and command-line troubleshooting.
• Good working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Strong coding and debugging capabilities.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues in a structured and proactive manner.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Experience working with development teams on defect resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with incident, problem, and escalation management processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability.
• A mindset focused on automation, continuous improvement, reliability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 application support for production systems, maintaining a proactive approach to monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Analyze, debug, and resolve complex application and technical issues using strong Java, Unix/Linux, and SQL skills.
• Develop and enhance Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve system scalability, reliability, availability, and performance.
• Investigate production incidents, assess business impact, manage incidents through resolution, and communicate effectively with users and stakeholders.
• Escalate complex issues to development and management teams with clear technical analysis and supporting information.
• Work closely with development teams to identify root causes, resolve recurring issues, and drive application improvements and transformation initiatives.
• Raise and manage incident and problem tickets, ensuring appropriate documentation, ownership, and follow-through.
• Automate repetitive and manual support processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce human intervention.
• Write and maintain code, scripts, and technical solutions when required to troubleshoot or resolve production issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and code snippets to support issue resolution and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve support processes, system stability, and overall application performance.
• Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for production issues from initial investigation through resolution.
