Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner, seeks a Senior Java Engineer (Payments) based in Mexico for a fully remote engagement with global fintech clients. You will design and deliver secure, scalable payment platforms, own architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, solution architects, and DevOps to ship reliable systems.

You will work with Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL/MySQL, OpenAPI REST APIs, CI/CD tooling, and cloud technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes),

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of professional Java development experience, designing and operating complex systems.
• Hands-on payments/fintech experience with transaction lifecycles and regulatory constraints.
• Expertise with Java 21+, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and event-driven microservices.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and asynchronous processing.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM (Hibernate/JPA).
• OpenAPI design and external integrations with third‑party services.
• Build/delivery tooling: Gradle/Maven, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform, Helm).
• Cloud and containers: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Testing/observability: JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers; OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
• AI-assisted coding awareness and validation of generated outputs.
• Technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
• Security standards: OAuth2/JWT/mTLS, encryption, and HSM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications and payment services across multiple clients.
• Lead technical architecture and define service boundaries, data models, and integration patterns.
• Develop and maintain payment platforms with secure external integrations and APIs.
• Ensure reliability, security, and regulatory compliance of production systems.
• Build and maintain event-driven workflows with Apache Kafka and idempotent processing.
• Collaborate with product, solution architects, and DevOps to translate requirements.
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, observability, and deployment processes.
• Promote code quality through reviews and engineering best practices.
• Investigate production incidents and implement durable fixes.
