Athenaworks is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to mature our lakehouse architecture and own critical pipelines end-to-end. You will work across high-throughput streaming, Iceberg table design on S3, and curated Redshift models for reporting.

You’ll anchor the team technically, making architectural calls and elevating engineering practices. You’ll collaborate with analysts to ensure the curated layer meets reporting needs, mentor teammates, and own production systems with a focus on reliability,

Formación

• 5+ years of data engineering experience with high-volume data systems.
• Strong JVM experience (Java and/or Kotlin).
• Kotlin experience strongly preferred for streaming apps.
• Hands-on experience with streaming ingestion technologies (Kinesis, Kafka, Firehose).
• Experience with table formats on object storage (Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi) including schema evolution and partitioning.
• Solid SQL skills and data warehouse modeling (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Proficiency in Python for data tooling and scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow.
• Comfort operating in AWS (S3, IAM, Kinesis, Firehose, Redshift).
• Track record of owning production systems and focusing on monitoring and cost.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate streaming data pipelines (Kinesis, Firehose) handling high-volume traffic.
• Own and evolve S3 + Iceberg raw data layer including partitioning and cost tuning.
• Build and maintain curated aggregates and fact tables in Redshift for reporting/analytics.
• Contribute to Kotlin-based event registration and streaming applications.
• Improve reliability, observability, and data quality across the pipeline.
