Athenaworks LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to mature our lakehouse architecture and own critical data systems end-to-end. You will manage real-time streaming ingestion, Iceberg table design on S3, and curated Redshift models powering reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, strong JVM skills (Java/Kotlin), and hands-on experience with Airflow and AWS. This is a hands-on, small-team role with growth opportunities.

Formación

• 5+ years data engineering experience.
• Strong JVM experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Kotlin experience strongly preferred for streaming apps.
• Hands-on with streaming ingestion (Kinesis, Kafka, Firehose).
• Experience with table formats on object storage (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi).
• SQL skills and data warehouse modeling (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Proficiency in Python for tooling and scripting.
• Airflow experience for pipelines.
• Comfort with AWS services (S3, IAM, Kinesis/Firehose/Redshift).
• Production ownership mindset: monitoring, failure modes, cost.
• Strong communication and independent work on a small team.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate streaming data pipelines with high-volume traffic.
• Own and evolve S3 + Iceberg raw data layer: table design, partitioning, cost tuning.
• Build and maintain curated aggregates and facts in Redshift for reports.
• Contribute to Kotlin-based event registration and streaming apps.
• Improve reliability, observability, and data quality across the pipeline.
• Make architectural recommendations as the lakehouse scales.
• Collaborate with analysts to align reporting needs.
• Mentor engineers and elevate data engineering practices.
