Job summary

Pearl is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the data infrastructure end-to-end for a healthcare data platform. You will scale web scraping, build LLM-driven normalization workflows, and shape API data products for customers.

This is a fully remote LATAM role with collaboration across international teams. You will mentor offshore engineers, ensure reliable deployments, and drive data quality for policy data used by payers and providers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems in Python.
• Production experience with SQL and PostgreSQL for storing and querying large datasets.
• Experience building pipelines that ingest, clean, and normalize messy or unstructured data.
• Hands-on experience deploying and running backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience reviewing code and owning architectural decisions on a shared codebase.
• English at C1 (CEFR) for daily video calls and technical discussions with US-based founders.

Responsibilities

• Scale the web scraping platform and build LLM workflows that extract codes and rules from policy text.
• Own the APIs and data product serving normalized policy data to customers.
• Improve scraper reliability and CI/CD pipelines for deployment and testing.
• Review pull requests from offshore engineers and document architectural decisions.
