Job summary

EarnIn, a pioneer in earned wage access, seeks a senior backend engineer to own always-on production services and real-time money movement systems. You will design, implement, and operate systems spanning debit, RTP, and more, with AI-driven tooling and cross-functional collaboration from Mexico City.

This hybrid role may be based in Mexico City with remote options. EarnIn offers healthcare, internet reimbursement, a learning stipend, and opportunities to travel to Mountain View.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of delivering value through software in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with microservice architectures is required.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding and productivity tools in daily engineering work.
• Proficient in at least one modern programming language and able to understand more than one; currently C#.
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools.
• Experience in developing and executing functional and integration tests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear communication during incidents.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with financial systems, payments, or ledgers, where correctness and auditability are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive the design and implementation of new features; translate complex problems into elegant design and write high-quality, maintainable code.
• Own the health of the services you build; participate in on-call rotation and drive incident resolution.
• Use AI tools in daily workflow for design, coding, testing, debugging, and incident response.
• Improve reliability and observability by building monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Debug production issues across services and stack levels.
• Design and deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and messaging patterns.
• Create and maintain test automation to enable CI and velocity.
• Mentor engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews; coach on operational readiness.
• Work cross-functionally with data science, design, product, finance, accounting, and analytics.
• Work with distributed systems and uphold high-quality code.
