Zillow Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering, Back End, to design, build and operate scalable backend services powering our consumer and partner experiences.

You will lead complex server-side development, improve performance, and collaborate with product, data and infrastructure teams to support millions of users across brands. You will own distributed systems, GraphQL schemas, and data pipelines (Kafka or similar) while driving production reliability, on-call readiness

Formación

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Responsabilidades

• Design & Build Distributed Systems: Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services and APIs.
• GraphQL Schema Ownership: Define, evolve, and maintain GraphQL schemas powering consumer experiences.
• Data and Pipeline Engineering: Design and operate resilient data across asynchronous systems (e.g., Kafka) and queues.
• Product Ownership & Operational Excellence: Own services in production, including on-call, monitoring, incidents, and improvements to reliability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, UX, and engineering teams across the stack.
• Technical Communication & Documentation: Write design docs, proposals, and conduct code reviews.
• Quality & Sustainability: Champion testing strategies and automation for scalable code.
• Customer Impact Focus: Deliver backend capabilities for media experiences and measurable product performance.
• AI-Augmented Engineering Practice: Leverage AI tools to accelerate design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
