Job summary

Ford is seeking a Seats CAE Engineer to join our CAE team, responsible for performing all structural CAE load case analyses on automotive seats across North America vehicle programs.

In this role, you will use advanced finite element analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate seat structures — including frames, tracks, recliners, and risers — under static, dynamic, durability, and regulatory load conditions to ensure they meet strength, stiffness, and modal requirements for every seat variant and trim

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on CAE experience in automotive structures.
• Experience with Seats/Seat Structures or Body Structures preferred.
• Expertise in nonlinear structural analyses using the Finite Element Method (FEM).
• Proficiency with LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, and NASTRAN.
• Preprocessing with ANSA and Hypermesh; postprocessing with Hyperview.
• Knowledge of structural optimization tools: modeFRONTIER, HEEDS, LS-OPT, OptiStruct.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAE analyses of automotive seats to minimize risk of structural failure during impacts.
• Interface with Design & Release and other teams to propose design improvements.
• Coordinate meshing and analysis work with CAE engineers to meet program milestones.
• Evaluate cost and weight trade-offs while preserving structural performance.
• Document analysis results and support program reviews and sign-offs.
• Respond promptly to build issues with rapid root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive on-time vehicle development.
