Regular

Atequiza Jalisco, Mexico (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Atequiza Jalisco,Mexico)

Syensqo is all about chemistry. We’re not just referring to chemical reactions here, but also to the magic that occurs when the brightest minds get to work together. This is where our true strength lies. In you. In your future colleagues and in all your differences. And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.

Role and Responsibilities
About the role

Syensqo is looking for an experienced and growth-oriented Sales Manager to lead the Specialty Polymers Transportation business in Mexico. This role will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for the Mexican market, managing and growing existing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding Syensqo’s presence within the automotive and transportation industry.

The Sales Manager will combine commercial leadership with active business development and key account management. A major focus of the position will be identifying and capturing new opportunities generated by automotive OEMs, Tier suppliers, and particularly Asian and European companies establishing or expanding manufacturing operations in Mexico.

The position can be based in Mexico City or Monterrey and will require regular customer interaction and travel throughout Mexico (50% of the time).

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute the commercial strategy for Syensqo’s Specialty Polymers Transportation business in Mexico;
  • Own the Mexico sales plan and be accountable for achieving annual revenue, profitability, growth, and new-business objectives;
  • Manage, coach, and develop the local sales team, establishing customer priorities, objectives, and performance expectations;
  • Conduct regular account, opportunity, pipeline, and forecast reviews with the sales team and provide direction on customer strategies and commercial priorities;
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with automotive OEMs, Tier suppliers, and other transportation customers;
  • Develop a strong pipeline of new opportunities, with particular focus on Asian and European companies investing, nearshoring, or expanding manufacturing operations in Mexico;
  • Manage strategic customer relationships and establish connections with key commercial, engineering, purchasing, and management decision-makers;
  • Develop and execute account strategies to protect existing business, increase Syensqo’s share, and introduce Specialty Polymers into new applications and vehicle platforms;
  • Lead and support major customer negotiations involving pricing, commercial terms, contracts, supply conditions, and new business;
  • Define pricing strategies and develop pricing recommendations in coordination with regional and global pricing leadership;
  • Manage the sales forecasting process, including customer consumption, open orders, project timing, changes in market share, risks and opportunities, and forecast accuracy;
  • Monitor business performance against annual targets and implement corrective actions when necessary;
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Planning to evaluate customer demand, product availability, potential capacity constraints, safety-stock requirements, and supply priorities;
  • Coordinate with Technical Service and Product Management to support customer trials, samples, material qualifications, new applications, and new product introductions;
  • Collaborate across Customer Service, Marketing, Supply Chain, Planning, Technical Service, Manufacturing, and global commercial teams to resolve customer requirements and ensure effective execution;
  • Promote Syensqo’s Specialty Polymers portfolio and strengthen the company’s visibility and position within the Mexican automotive and transportation market;
  • Represent the Mexico organization in regional and global business reviews and communicate market trends, customer developments, competitive activity, risks, and growth opportunities to Americas leadership;
  • Manage local commercial resources and budgets, including travel, marketing, and customer-development activities.
Experience and Skills
Products and markets:

The role will support Syensqo’s broad portfolio of high-performance Specialty Polymers for transportation applications. Key product families include Amodel® polyphthalamide (PPA), Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire® polyether ether ketone (PEEK), AvaSpire® polyaryletherketone (PAEK), Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), and Veradel® polyethersulfone (PESU), among other specialty materials.

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Business, or a related field;
  • Strong commercial experience in specialty materials, chemicals, automotive, engineering plastics, or a related business-to-business industry;
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, key account management, and complex commercial negotiations;
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities;
  • Strong understanding of the Mexican automotive industry, including OEMs, Tier suppliers, and the evolving manufacturing footprint in Mexico;
  • Ability to develop strategic account plans, sales forecasts, pricing strategies, and long-term growth plans;
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including understanding of pricing, profitability, forecasting, and business performance;
  • Ability to work effectively within a global, cross-functional organization and coordinate with technical, supply chain, marketing, customer service, and product-management teams;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills;
  • Strong customer orientation combined with a proactive, new-business-development mindset;
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customers locations;
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and English is required.

The successful candidate will combine a “hunter” mindset for new business development with disciplined management of the existing business. The individual should be comfortable moving between strategic leadership and direct customer engagement - from defining the Mexico growth strategy and coaching the sales team to meeting customers, developing new accounts, negotiating commercial agreements, resolving escalations, and coordinating resources across Syensqo’s global organization.

Success will require the ability to understand customers’ technical and commercial needs, translate them into opportunities for Syensqo’s Specialty Polymers portfolio, and mobilize the appropriate internal resources to bring those opportunities to commercialization.

The Sales Manager will be expected to strengthen Syensqo’s presence in Mexico while building a sustainable pipeline of future growth.
