Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Web Browser Researcher for a fully remote, globally distributed team. You will investigate browser behavior, identify novel techniques, and translate findings into product improvements with measurable impact.

You will design experiments, analyze data, and develop automated tooling while collaborating with product and engineering teams to shape the research roadmap. Strong JavaScript and web platform expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of web platform fundamentals, browser internals, and web security concepts.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and the ability to read, understand, and navigate code written in multiple programming languages.
• Solid knowledge of web networking fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ability to uncover and explain undocumented behavior in web technologies, APIs, and protocols through testing, debugging, and reverse engineering.
• Experience independently driving research from an initial idea through experimentation, validation, and actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent technical research into browser behavior and identification techniques, ensuring discoveries are validated and translated into product improvements.
• Research novel device-identification, visitor-identification, Smart Signals, and bot-detection techniques across modern web browsers.
• Design and conduct experiments, analyze supporting data, and deliver clear recommendations with impact estimates and trade-offs.
• Review engineering changes and advise on research objectives and edge cases during implementation.
• Build and maintain automated research tooling, including observers, fuzzers, and scrapers, to discover new signals and detect browser changes.
• Monitor browser beta/canary channels and RFC discussions to anticipate changes and assess product impact.
• Produce structured research outputs including reports, articles, proofs of concept, and experimental signals.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate findings into development priorities.
• Contribute to the team through mentoring, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
