BairesDev is seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer to maintain and modernize critical IBM mainframe applications. You will bridge legacy systems with modern business needs across banking and government sectors, enabling stable and evolving processing environments.

As part of a global, 100% remote team, you will design, develop, and optimize COBOL solutions for batch and online processing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting changes for long-term maintainability.

Formación

• 4+ years in Software Engineering, Mainframe Development, or Systems Programming.
• Proven expertise maintaining and modernizing COBOL on IBM mainframes.
• Proficiency in CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Hands-on with batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Strong debugging and legacy code optimization skills.
• Advanced English.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance COBOL applications for batch and online processing.
• Manage and optimize mainframe components including CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Analyze complex legacy codebases to identify modernization opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into specifications.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot defects for reliability.
• Document system changes and workflows to preserve institutional knowledge.
