Job summary

ABB Installation Products Inc. in Juarez is seeking a Quality Specialist to support deployment of the quality strategy within the local unit.

You will help achieve customer expectations, balance prevention and continuous improvement, and collaborate with local functions to reach world-class performance. You will lead resource planning, production testing, and equipment improvements while guiding a team of blue-collar staff and aligning with HR for development and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; Engineering background desired.
• 5+ years of experience in similar positions.
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach, strong written & spoken communication skills.
• Leader/Interpersonal/Management of teams skills as the candidate will coordinate a group of blue collar staff.
• Be able to develop the analysis of the issues detected during the assembly process in order to ensure the high quality of the product. (RCA, A3, DMAIC Methodology, 8Ds, etc.)
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office.
• Basic English level.
• Willing to rotate shifts.

Responsibilities

• Resource allocation: Organizes and allocates resources to meet inspection rate targets and leads capacity planning for testing area.
• Production scheduling and testing plan: Executes testing plan to meet volume requirements.
• Equipment and facilities: Identifies and recommends technical equipment and facility improvements.
• Testing execution: Ensures execution of quality testing and on-time delivery targets for the product.
• Operations improvement: Identifies deficiencies and oversees actions to improve testing performance.
• Critical line issues: Manages resolution with internal teams.
• People leadership and development: Guides, motivates and develops subordinates with HR support.
• HSE and Quality Focus: Ensures compliance of hourly employees to quality and safety criteria.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Business in Juarez.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the deployment of the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations, while ensuring sustainable operations. Each day, you will assist the organization in achieving the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. You will also showcase your expertise by collaborating with local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Resource allocation: Organizes and allocates resources to effectively and efficiently meet inspection rate targets. Responds to resource issues as necessary. Leads capacity planning and resource optimization for the testing area.
• Production scheduling and testing plan: Executes testing plan accordingly to production plan to meet the volume requirements agreed in the demand plan.
• Equipment and facilities: Identifies and recommends technical equipment and facility improvements as necessary.
• Testing execution: Ensures execution of quality testing of equipment, conforming product, and on-time delivery targets for the assigned complexity of the product.
• Operations improvement: Identifies deficiencies in testing process efficiency, proposes improvement activities, and oversees implementation of actions to improve testing performance.
• Critical line issues: Manages the resolution of critical product or equipment issues together with relevant internal teams /respective quality specialist.
• People leadership and development: Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies.
• HSE and Quality Focus: Works with the quality and HSE team to ensure compliance of the hourly employees to the quality and safety criteria defined for the product.

Qualifications for the role:

• A Bachelor's degree. (Engineering background desired).
• 5+ years of experience in similar positions (Electrification/Electrical components process knowledge is a plus).
