Job summary

ABB in Mexico is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier assessments and drive corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance. You will manage on-site and off-site supplier quality, oversee qualification processes and KPIs, and work with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the supplier base for the Electrification Business in Juarez.

This role requires advanced English and hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, and Core Tools, and will involve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, electrical automation or related engineering.
• 5+ years of supplier audits and incoming inspection experience.
• Knowledge of APQP process qualification and AIAG guidelines.
• ISO 9001:2015 / IATF 16949 awareness (auditor preferred).
• GD&T knowledge.
• Project management experience in quality.
• Experience with SAP, Minitab and Power BI.
• Problem solving tools and root cause analysis (8D, RCA).
• Lean Six Sigma experience (Green Belt or higher).
• Advanced English.

Responsibilities

• Lead approval process for supplier parts, materials, and subcontractor services with PPAP and supplier surveillance.
• Address supply quality, delivery, and non-conforming products issues promptly.
• Collaborate with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases.
• Ensure supplier development processes drive continuous improvement of the supplier base.

This position reports to: Supplier Quality and Development Engineer (SQE/SDE)

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of supplier assessments, drive both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Each day, you will manage operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. You will also showcase your expertise by managing the supplier's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This role is contributing to the Electrification Business in Juarez, Nuevo Leon.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Driving approval process for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services, as applicable, involving collaboration with other functions/experts, encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites.
• Leading in promptly addressing supply issues related to quality, deliveries, non-compliant products, or project services.
• Working together with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases when necessary.
• Ensuring required supplier development processes are thoroughly executed to drive continuous improvement of the supplier base.

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, electrical automation or related engineering.
• 5+ Year experience in experience working in supplier audits and incoming inspection process.
• Strong knowledge of APQP process qualification (Copper, aluminum & coatings), AIAG guidelines & Core Tools (Control Plan, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP, etc.).
• Certified auditor ISO 9001:2015 or ISO/TS 16949.
• Knowledge in GD&T.
• Experience in project management in the quality area.
• Experience & knowledge in SAP, Minitab and Power BI desired.
• Problem Solving tools / Root cause analysis (8Ds, RCA, 6S, A3).
• Experience in Lean Six Sigma. (Green Belt Certification). (Black Belt is a plus).
• Advanced English.
