EXL is seeking a backend engineer in Mexico City with 5+ years of experience to build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integration components. • Strong testing practices and CI/CD fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integration components.
• Write clean, testable, maintainable code and perform quality code reviews.

• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Architecture, Security, Data teams, and product stakeholders.

AI Skills for This Role:

• Practical use of Claude/Copilot for coding, refactoring, debugging, and test generation.
• Ability to write high-quality prompts for technical tasks.
• Ability to critically review and harden AI-generated code.
• Awareness of data security and IP/confidentiality constraints when using AI tools.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and/or Java.
• Solid experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL, and Git workflows.
• Strong testing practices and CI/CD fundamentals.
• English proficiency: professional working level or above (B2+/C1 preferred).

Nice to Have:

• Microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with DDD, clean architecture, and design patterns.
• Prior experience in financial services.

Work model:

Flexible / Hybrid - 3 days on-site at Tecnoparque Mexico City / Toluca.

English proficiency is required for all roles.
