Palo IT is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design, build, and evolve robust backend services using Python and FastAPI. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, drive technical excellence, and influence architectural decisions for scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes API design, security, and modern DevOps practices while collaborating with global teams to deliver AI-first projects.

Formación

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong experience with Python and FastAPI.

• Proficient in SQL and/or NoSQL databases and performance tuning.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Your Role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and evolving robust, scalable, and secure backend services using Python. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, drive technical excellence, and contribute to architectural decisions that support long-term business and client needs.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python FastAPI.

• Lead the design of backend architectures and contribute to technical decisions that ensure performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and other stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

• Optimize applications for maximum speed, reliability, and scalability while ensuring security and data protection best practices.

• Review code, enforce engineering standards, and mentor other developers to promote high-quality, maintainable code.

• Identify system bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive performance and reliability improvements.

• Participate in and influence the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Promote best practices in API design, testing, observability, and CI/CD automation.

• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and backend engineering practices, and proactively recommend improvements where relevant.

Who You Are

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in backend development, with strong expertise in Python and solid hands-on experience with FastAPI.

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles, microservices architecture, and distributed systems concepts.

• Proven experience designing scalable and maintainable backend systems in production environments.

• Proficient in SQL and/or NoSQL database design, optimization, and performance tuning.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and modern DevOps practices.

• Solid understanding of application security, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and secure coding practices.

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose pragmatic solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional, collaborative environments and to guide technical discussions.

• Experience mentoring junior or mid-level developers and contributing to team growth is highly valued.

AI-Native Engineering (Core Expectation)

• UseGenerative AI coding tools(e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as a first-class engineering assistant for:

• Code scaffolding and refactoring

• Code generation and optimisation

• Test-cases and documentation generation

• Build applications through AI-driven development practices, including:

• AI-assisted debugging and troubleshooting

• Intelligent code completion and pattern recognition

• Automated documentation generation

• Apply prompt engineering best practicesfor reliable, repeatable engineering outcomes.

• Validate GenAI output(determinism checks, guardrails, fallback logic).
