Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Project Lead in our on-site office in Mexico. You will steer complex projects from concept through ramp-up, coordinating engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to safety, quality, and cost targets.

The role emphasizes governance, risk management, and strong communication with executives, frontline leaders, and suppliers, while embedding operational excellence across programs.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field as listed.

Role Definition:

Provides technical leadership for complex manufacturing engineering projects, with primary accountability for new program introduction and the end-to-end delivery of production capabilities. Leads multidisciplinary teams through project planning, process definition, sourcing, construction, installation, commissioning, validation, production ramp-up, and stabilization of manufacturing lines, while embedding operational excellence management systems to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and capacity objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead major manufacturing engineering projects for new program introductions, capacity expansions, and production transformations from concept approval through launch, ramp-up, and stable operations.
  • Develop and control integrated project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resources, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, validation, training, and production readiness.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, procurement, facilities, EHS, finance, human resources, suppliers, and leadership to deliver project milestones and business objectives.
  • Direct the planning, construction, installation, integration, commissioning, and start-up of manufacturing lines, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, capacity targets, and launch timing.
  • Establish governance, milestone reviews, risk management, change control, action tracking, and executive reporting to maintain alignment, accelerate decisions, and resolve constraints.
  • Communicate program status across all levels of the organization, from front-line leaders through the executive team, providing clear visibility of progress, key decisions, dependencies, risks, opportunities, and required actions.
  • Implement operational excellence management systems in new programs, including standard work, visual management, performance indicators, problem-solving routines, continuous improvement practices, and ownership for sustained results.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced English.

  • Uses manufacturing, automation, launch, and project management expertise to influence timely, evidence-based decisions.
  • Builds stakeholder commitment by linking engineering solutions to safety, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and operational excellence outcomes.
  • Builds organizational capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and the standardization of lessons learned.
Project Management:
  • Defines project scope, business case, deliverables, work breakdown, milestones, governance, acceptance criteria, and success measures.
  • Builds and controls integrated plans for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, validation, training, launch, and ramp-up.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary teams and suppliers while tracking budget, schedule, resources, dependencies, decisions, changes, and executive escalations.
  • Establishes a consistent program reporting cadence and communicates status, forecasts, risks, opportunities, mitigation plans, and escalation needs to the appropriate organizational levels.
  • Identifies and mitigates technical, supplier, facility, capacity, quality, safety, installation, commissioning, and launch risks.
Team Management:
  • Establishes clear objectives, roles, decision rights, interfaces, and performance expectations for multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Aligns engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, procurement, facilities, EHS, finance, suppliers, and leadership on priorities and execution.
  • Facilitates project reviews, removes barriers, resolves cross-functional conflicts, and sustains accountability and momentum.
  • Develops team capability in project execution, launch discipline, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.
Requirements Analysis:
  • Leads the collection, prioritization, documentation, approval, and control of product, process, capacity, facility, quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Translates business and production needs into actionable engineering specifications, line concepts, acceptance criteria, and launch-readiness deliverables.
  • Validates interfaces, dependencies, constraints, assumptions, and stakeholder expectations before execution and at key project gates.
  • Identifies requirement gaps and maintains traceability through governance, verification, validation, and change control.
Technical Troubleshooting:
  • Leads diagnosis and resolution of equipment, automation, controls, integration, commissioning, and manufacturing process issues during installation, launch, and ramp-up.
  • Uses structured methods, diagnostics, data, documentation, and supplier resources to identify root causes and restore project or production performance.
  • Coordinates containment, corrective, and preventive actions across functions and escalates risks that threaten safety, quality, timing, cost, or capacity.
  • Validates, documents, and standardizes solutions, then integrates lessons learned into operational excellence systems for sustained performance.

  • Location: Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon.
  • This position is five-day a week in-office model.
