The Caterpillar Inc. manufacturing engineer position in Cienega de Flores, Nuevo León focuses on designing, implementing, and improving production processes, equipment, and systems to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

You will support operations with process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and English proficiency, with responsibility for leading Lean/Six Sigma projects and capital investment

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/industrial fields.
  • English proficiency: intermediate to advanced.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing processes and equipment to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical support to operations to ensure safety, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Monitor equipment and process performance and reliability, identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, work standards, and operating instructions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, and Supply Chain.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate the introduction of new products, processes, technologies, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in the planning, execution, and follow-up of capital and automation projects.
  • Generate and manage projects requiring CAPEX investment.

Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving production processes, equipment, and systems to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. This role provides technical support to operations through process optimization, complex problem solving, and the implementation of continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing processes and equipment to increase productivity and reduce costs.

  • Provide technical support to operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.

What Skills Will the Ideal Candidate Have?

Manufacturing Processes
  • Background supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding and application of machining processes.
  • CNC machining knowledge and application (EIA/ISO, Mazatrol, Sinumerik, Fanuc e Inspection Plus).

  • NX Software knowledge.

  • Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and APQP methodologies.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and Caterpillar 1E specifications.
  • Capability to optimize and control production processes to improve performance and quality.

Lean Manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Application of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to identify and eliminate waste across manufacturing operations.
  • Focus on driving productivity, efficiency, and quality improvements.
  • Implementation of Lean tools and best practices on the production floor.

Project Management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership of new product launch initiatives.
  • Management of CAPEX-related projects and investments.
  • Coordination of cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong decision-making, prioritization, and project schedule management capabilities.

Industrial Automation

  • Knowledge of manufacturing automation systems and technologies.
  • Integration of automation solutions into production processes.
  • Implementation of automated equipment to enhance operational performance.
  • Improvement of capacity, safety, and productivity through automation initiatives.
  • Alignment of automation projects with Manufacturing Engineering strategic roadmaps.

Additional Information:

  • This position will be in Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon

  • This position is five-days a week subject to changes and willingness to work sporadically on weekends.

  • Requires working weekends, based on business continuity needs.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.

  • This position may require up to 15% travel.
