Job summary

Bombardier Aerospace Mexico (B.A.M) seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead structural and systems installation design for multiple aircraft programs. You will create installation drawings and detail models in CATIA V5, and collaborate with Stress, Materials, Systems, and Manufacturing teams across sites.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in aerospace installation design; fluent English and French are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in structural and systems installation design for aerospace.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5 and sheet metal parts design.
• Experience with multi-site collaboration and meeting design deadlines.
• Strong analytical and editorial skills in English and French.
• Knowledge of composites design is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee detail drawings.
• Interpret specifications to develop designs meeting requirements.
• Support production on Bombardier programs (Challenger 350/650, Global 5500/6500/7500).
• Resolve airframe and systems issues providing technical support across sites.
• Collaborate with Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Design, Quality, and Operations.
• Plan projects to meet schedules and budgets.
• Work with internal and external suppliers to support manufacturing.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee the production of detail drawings and installation drawings for work packages under your responsibility.
• Interpret technical specifications necessary related to aerospace domain to develop solution to meet the design requirements that will be entrusted to you.
• Support production operations on Bombardier multi-platform aircraft programs (Challenger 350 / 650 and Global 5500 / 6500 / 7500).
• Understand and resolve airframe and systems problems providing technical support to multi-site assembly line (QRO, Dorval, Toronto).
• Work in close cooperation with other disciplines such as Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Science, Design, Methods, Quality and Operations to achieve the company’s business objectives.
• Participate in projects that aim to increase productivity, reduce waste and improve financial performance.
• Plan and adhere to project schedule deadlines while respecting allocated budgets.
• Collaborate with experienced, dynamic and efficient multidisciplinary teams dedicated to projects in order to obtain results.
• Work in collaboration with the internal and external supplier to support the manufacturing team as needed.

How to thrive in this role?

• You have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) or more years experience in a similar position.
• You have knowledge of CATIA V5 design and modeling software.
• You have practical experience in aircraft structure/system installation design.
• You have experience in machined parts, sheet metal parts design and fabrication.
• You have a strong sense of responsibilities, good practical and technical judgment and are flexible.
• You demonstrate dynamism, good listening and a strong interest in teamwork.
• You have the ability to manage priorities.
• You have the ability to work under pressure to meet design deadlines.
• You are familiar with Microsoft Office software such as PowerPoint and Excel.
• You have great relational and editorial skills in English and French.
• Knowledge of composites design and Fibersim software is an asset.
