Job summary

Adient in Queretaro, Mexico seeks an engineer with 2–3 years of experience to drive layout, detail and assembly drawings while ensuring data integrity and timely releases for prototypes.

You will apply GD&T, FEA, DFMEA, DVP and root-cause analysis, and support suppliers with design tasks. Domestic and international travel within Mexico and to the US is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Creates layout, detail and assembly drawings using customer environment drawings to prevent packaging/interference issues.
• Applies design standards, FEA, GD&T and root-cause analysis in design work.
• Executes robust design changes to ensure high-quality prototype builds and timely release of data.
• Supports root-cause analysis for test failures and flags safety concerns.
• Provides test specs and sets up product testing in assigned design area.
• Supports generation of DFMEAs before prototype tooling release.
• Develops technical solutions addressing cost, performance, timing, weight and investment.
• Supports suppliers in development and drawing creation.
• Performs design studies and tolerance stack-ups for quality assembly and performance.
• Implements best practices and early detection for BSR.
• Uses appropriate tools/tech to solve program/product issues.
• Keeps up-to-date with advancing technology and applies when appropriate.
• Writes CA/IR/DA for changes or issues.
• Provides input to ensure accurate design change records and drawings.
• Delivers marked-up drawings/CAD models to aid costing and quoting.
• Maintains BOM accuracy via PDM system and supports personnel.

General Responsibilities

• 1. Applies best practices in creating layout drawings, detail drawings and assembly drawings. Uses customer’s environment drawings to ensure no packaging or interference problems exist in the drawings/data.
• 2. Applies best practices in design and engineering. This can include but is not limited to PDfSS, drawing standards, FEA, GD&T, root cause analysis, DVP, DFMEA, hand calculations and use of carry-over and CPP technology.
• 3. Executes robust design/design changes to provide the highest quality in the build and assembly of prototype parts with agreed to process. Ensures design data is released on-time to support highest quality assemblies for testing and the customer.
• 4. Supports root cause analysis in the resolution of test failures. Informs any potential safety concern.
• 5. Provides test specifications and reviews set up for product testing in assigned area of design responsibility.
• 6. Supports generation of DFMEAs prior to release of prototype tooling.
• 7. Develops technical solutions that support business objectives (cost, performance, timing, weight, and investment).
• 8. Technically supports suppliers in product development and drawing creation.
• 9. Performs design studies or tolerance stack-ups to ensure highest quality product assembly and performance.
• 10. Executes best practices and early detection for BSR.
• 11. Uses the right tool/technology for providing technical solution to program/product issues.
• 12. Is aware of advancing technology and implements as appropriate.
• 13.Writes CAs, IRs or DAs to properly document customer or internal initiated changes or issues.
• 14.Provides input to support personnel to ensure accurate input of design change records and drawings.
• 15. Provides marked up drawings or CAD models through designers to facilitate accurate costing and quoting exercises.
• 16.Maintains accurate bill of materials through product data management system and support personnel.
