Descripción del empleo

We are looking for an experienced Plant Quality Head to lead the Quality function for a high-performance automotive manufacturing operation in Monterrey.

This is a key plant leadership position for a hands-on Quality leader who combines strong automotive technical expertise with the ability to lead teams, drive accountability on the shop floor, and build trusted relationships with demanding automotive customers.

The ideal candidate is not only strong in Quality Systems and compliance, but also highly operational: someone who is comfortable being on the production floor, leading problem-solving activities, challenging processes, developing the Quality team, and personally engaging with customers when critical quality issues arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Advanced English and Spanish, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • 10+ years of progressive Quality experience, including leadership responsibility within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience within Tier 1 / Tier 2 automotive suppliers.
  • Proven experience managing customer quality requirements, escalations, complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Solid experience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, DOE, SPC, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience leading internal, customer, certification, and process audits.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate Quality requirements into practical shop-floor actions.
  • Experience developing Quality teams and building a strong quality culture and ownership mindset throughout Operations.

Leadership Profile

We are looking for a leader who combines:

Strong Leadership – Able to develop teams, establish accountability, challenge the organization constructively, and influence peers and senior leaders.

Hands-On Mentality – Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and personally engaging in critical problem-solving activities rather than managing Quality only through reports and meetings.

Customer Service Orientation – Strong ability to manage customer relationships, difficult conversations, escalations, and recovery plans while maintaining credibility and responsiveness.

Automotive Quality Expertise – Deep understanding of automotive Quality standards, Core Tools, manufacturing processes, and customer-specific requirements.

Problem-Solving & Execution – Capable of quickly understanding complex quality issues, identifying root causes, establishing containment, and driving sustainable corrective actions.

Quality Culture Leadership – Able to create an environment where Quality is understood as an operational responsibility across the entire organization—not only the responsibility of the Quality department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete Plant Quality organization, establishing priorities, accountability, and a strong Quality culture across the operation.
  • Own and continuously improve the plant Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and applicable international standards.
  • Act as the plant's primary Quality interface with key automotive customers, building strong relationships and ensuring timely, professional, and effective responses to customer concerns.
  • Lead the response to customer complaints, quality incidents, escalations, containment activities, and corrective actions, ensuring sustainable root-cause resolution.
  • Maintain a strong shop-floor presence, working directly with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other functions to identify and eliminate quality risks.
  • Drive structured problem-solving and ensure corrective actions are implemented with the required speed, discipline, and effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop the Plant Quality team, strengthening technical capabilities, ownership, decision-making, and succession.
  • Monitor and improve key Quality KPIs, including customer complaints, PPM, scrap, rework, Cost of Poor Quality, audit performance, and corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Lead customer, certification, and internal audits and ensure robust follow-up of findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective execution of APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and other automotive Core Tools.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams during new product launches, process changes, transfers, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate containment and decision-making authority when product or process conditions represent a potential risk to the customer.
  • Champion a Zero Defects mindset, moving the organization from reactive problem-solving toward prevention and robust process control.
