Tecnológico de Monterrey seeks a Photonics Specialist for the Monterrey Campus to support electrical, thermal, magnetic and functional characterization of materials using advanced measurement platforms. You will train users and help interpret data to advance research in a collaborative academic setting.

Responsibilities include operating equipment, preparing samples, maintaining procedures, coordinating maintenance, and contributing to microscopy lab development. On-site role in Monterrey.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Engineering, or related field; graduate studies desirable.
• 1–3 years of laboratory/instrumentation/research experience.
• English proficiency minimum B2 level.

Responsabilidades

• Operate and maintain characterization equipment with focus on PPMS, analyzer and probe station.
• Train students, researchers and external users in lab equipment and services.
• Assist sample preparation, experimental planning, image acquisition and data interpretation.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures, service records and documentation.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, consumables management and vendor interactions.
• Contribute to improving microscopy services and lab capabilities.

What will you do?

As aPhotonics Specialist, your main challenge will be to provide support for the electrical, thermal, magnetic, and functional characterization of materials and devices using advanced measurement platforms.

How will you do it?

Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Equipment Operation

Operate and maintain physical-property characterization equipment, with a focus on, but not limited to, the following: PPMS, Parameter Analyzer, and Probe Station.

2. User Support and Training

Train students, researchers, faculty, industry partners, and external users in the use of laboratory equipment and services.

3. Sample Preparation and Analysis

Assist with sample preparation, experimental planning, image acquisition, and data interpretation.

4. Documentation and Quality Control

Develop and maintain operating procedures, service records, and technical documentation.

5. Equipment Maintenance

Coordinate preventive maintenance, consumables management, and interactions with vendors.

6. Facility Development

Contribute to the continuous improvement of microscopy services and laboratory capabilities.

3. What are we looking for?

If you have a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Engineering, or a related discipline (graduate studies are desirable), along with 1 to 3 years of experience working in laboratories, instrumentation, testing, or research, we want to hear from you.Experience with scientific instrumentation is desirable. We are also looking for candidates with analytical and critical-thinking skills, a strong service-oriented mindset, and English proficiency (minimum B2 level).We are looking for you—
