Job summary

Transocean is seeking a 3rd Mate to support marine operations on offshore assets. You will assist the Chief Mate and Senior Mate in controlling navigational operations, ensuring safety, maintaining equipment, and protecting the environment on the rig.

Reports to the 2nd Mate; promotes a safe and respectful work environment and participates in safety and operational meetings as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with proof of completion.
• Successful military discharge preferred for US operations.
• Graduate of Trade School or University where knowledge applies.
• Valid Unlimited 3rd Mate License (home country and flag state).
• Knowledge of technical calculations for safe marine operations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates for area of operation.
• Valid GMDSS License and Lifeboatman Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Exercise control of safe navigation of the vessel per policies and procedures.
• Familiarize with bridge/navigation equipment; assist voyage planning and rig moves.
• Provide assistance during anchoring operations.
• Maintain navigational equipment per SOLAS, classification, and flag state rules.
• Assist with maintenance of deck equipment, firefighting, lifesaving equipment, and lifting gear.
• Maintain vessel seaworthiness and watertight integrity; manage cargo and supplies.
• Assist with Class Surveys and regulatory inspections; ensure pollution compliance.
• Gain familiarity with DP equipment and pursue Nautical Institute DP certification.
