Job summary

Qualcomm Intl Inc., Mexico Branch Office is seeking a Network Engineer to support enterprise firewall, VPN, and proxy infrastructure on the IT team in Mexico City.

The role collaborates with global teams in India and San Diego on security designs, runbooks, and incident response while growing the new Mexico City operations team.

On-site work five days a week; strong English skills required; IT security fundamentals and vendor platforms knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on network security operations.
• Experience with enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FTD) or equivalent.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN).
• Understanding NAT, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
• Strong English communication skills for global collaboration.
• On-site in Mexico City 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise firewall, proxy, and VPN infrastructure.
• Perform firewall rule changes, policy updates, and access control modifications following established change management processes.
• Manage and support VPN services including site-to-site and remote access VPN configurations.
• Administer web proxy and content filtering platforms, ensuring policy compliance and service availability.
• Respond to security-related network incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and drive timely resolution.
• Collaborate with the India operations team on shift handoffs, shared ticket queues, and operational continuity.
• Work with the architecture and design team in San Diego to implement approved security designs and policy standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of firewall rule sets, VPN configurations, proxy policies, and security procedures.
• Contribute to operational process improvement, runbook development, and automation of routine security tasks.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in network security operations
• Strong working knowledge of enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FTD, or equivalent)
• Experience managing web proxy and content filtering solutions
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN)
• Understanding of network security fundamentals including NAT, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and segmentation
• Strong English communication skills — written and verbal — required for daily collaboration with global teams
• Ability to work on‑site in Mexico City 5 days per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Cisco CCNA Security, Fortinet NSE, or CompTIA Security+
• Experience working in a global, follow-the-sun operations model
• Experience with scripting or automation for security operations (Python, Ansible)
• ITIL Foundation or experience working within ITIL-based service management frameworks

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

• Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
