A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Supplier Technical Assistant to ensure quality and capacity at Tier 1 Supplier sites. Responsibilities include providing technical support for quality systems, leading resolution for quality concerns, and managing new product launches. The role requires at least 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency in English. Travel within North America is expected.

Formación

In this position

As a Supplier Technical Assistant (STA) engineer, you will be responsible for industrializing and managing the "Quality" and "Capacity" of commodities at Tier 1 Supplier sites during the launch of new model programs and in-series production. This includes working on Exterior Lighting Hardware and Electronics, ensuring that we source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while maintaining optimal costs and on-time delivery. Your role will involve collaborating closely with suppliers to establish a robust supply chain that supports the continuous production of vehicles that meet customer demands. You will be tasked with overseeing the quality assurance processes and capacity management at supplier locations, ensuring that they meet Ford\'s stringent standards.

This position requires flexibility to travel within North America, Mexico, and Canada, with travel expectations of up to 3-4 days per week, depending on your assigned supplier site locations.

Qualifications

You\u2019ll have...

  • Bachelor of Science/ Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the Automotive Industry
  • Be proficient in English when working with global teams
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes(es) of the responsible component commodities (Exterior Lighting / Electronics, Ford Electronics Manufacturing Requirements (FEMR), Ford EDS Wiring Manufacturing Requirements (FEWMR), Ford Special Process Standards (Ex. CQI-23 for injection parts)
  • Knowledge of Problem Solving and Quality systems and tools
  • Flexibility (coaching, teaching and support) to suppliers

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a single point of contact for assigned supplier sites, accountable for site performance for new product launch and ongoing part quality.
  • Provide technical support to aid in improving quality systems and lead all quality concern resolution for suppliers and Ford plant.
  • Support the supplier to be certified (ISO, IATF, Q1 ) for a better performance. Ensure all their documentation APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) / PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and review that they match as each other.
  • Drive Supplier Process capacity actions execution, Capacity issues resolution, capability verification & risk mitigation working Supplier leadership teams.
  • Drives engagement of Top Poor Performing Suppliers and Quality performance improvement.
  • Drives Flawless launches globally, by ensuring external suppliers are robustly prepared to support new programs through effective deployment of APQP / PPAP disciplines.
  • Escalates capability shortfalls and supports cross-functional mitigation activities.
  • Providing supporting sourcing process to supply chain.
