G&W Electric Co. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the NPD Engineering team. You will design components, create 3D CAD assemblies, and generate drawings with appropriate tolerances to support new product development.

You will influence manufacturability, prototype testing, and validation activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet schedules and quality targets while ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, UL) as part of the design release process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical engineering role with CAD.
• Strong written/spoken communication and ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical design and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• 3D CAD component and assembly modelling for problem solving or from a hand-sketch
• Design and dimension components with intent for molding, machining, or other DFM
• Prepare simplified models for 3D printed prototypes or FEA analyses; participate in prototyping and testing
• Understand design implications of relevant industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)
• Self-driven to complete tasks within schedule and quality expectations
• Coach and review team members to level-up group technical aptitude
• Communicate with cross functional teams to drive release and validation processes
• Be a change agent by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support projects (Product Development, Aftermarket, Applications, Supply Chain, Manufacturing)

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Design Engineer within our NPD Engineering team is responsible for component design and CAD assembly, drawings, dimensioning and tolerance analysis, design for manufacturing, top-town assemblies, and the review and ECN release process. We are offering the unique responsibility to be a contributing member to our engineering team in the following:

• 3D CAD component and assembly modelling for problem solving or from a hand-sketch
• Design and dimension components with intent for molding, machining, or other DFM.
• Prepare simplified models for 3D printed prototypes or FEA analyses. Participate in prototyping and functional testing of designs
• Understand design implications of relevant industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)
• Self driven to complete tasks within expected schedule and quality expectations
• Coach and review other team members to level-up group technical aptitude
• Communicate with functional and cross functional team members to understand design requirements and drive release and validation processes
• Be a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activities
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g. Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing)

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or Relevant Discipline
• >3 years of experience in a technical engineering role with CAD
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences
• Strong analytical design and quantitative problem-solving skills
