Cardinal Health in Mexico (Tijuana) seeks an Occupational Health Physician to partner with manufacturing and cross‑functional teams, providing medical support for work‑related injuries and illnesses and coordinating return‑to‑work plans.

This role requires a Medical Doctor licensed in Mexico, 4–8 years in occupational health or industrial medicine within a manufacturing environment, and advanced English communication; you will ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and support incident investigations

Formación

  • MD with Mexico licensure required; medical degree and board credentials preferred.
  • 4-8 years in occupational health or industrial medicine, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of occupational health regulations and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience managing occupational accidents and health evaluations.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of operations staff.
  • Administer and enforce health policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees operate within safety and health guidelines.
  • Support workplace incident investigations and preventive actions.
  • Provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for injuries and illnesses.
  • Collaborate with Production, EHS, and plant departments to promote health and safety.
  • Maintain confidential employee medical records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Offer guidance for on-site illness and wellness initiatives.

What Occupational Health contributes to Cardinal Health Environmental Health & Safety manages programs to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. This function conducts regular audits, responds to incidents and investigates root causes, and implements trainings and corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence of problems. This function also manages relationships with regulatory and community stakeholders.

The Occupational Health Physician serves as a key partner to manufacturing, production, and cross-functional teams, providing medical support for occupational injuries and illnesses. This role is responsible for evaluating and treating work-related accidents, managing occupational health cases, coordinating return-to-work recommendations, and promoting employee wellness within the manufacturing environment. The physician also collaborates closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure compliance with occupational health regulations and ISO 45001 standards, supports incident investigations, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that promote a safe and healthy workplace. Additionally, the role provides medical attention and clinical guidance for employees who become ill while on-site and communicates effectively with employees and stakeholders in English when required.

Occupational Health works to prevent, investigate and treat workplace-related illnesses and injuries. Occupational Health is responsible for providing first aid, evaluating an employee’s health and providing initial diagnosis on medical conditions, maintaining employee health records, as well as appraising the safety and health hazards in the work environment.Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal), preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with Production, EHS, HR, and cross-functional plant teams.
  • Knowledge of occupational health regulations and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience managing occupational accidents, work-related illnesses, and employee medical evaluations.
  • Medical Degree (MD) with authorization to practice medicine in Mexico, required.
  • 4-8 years of Occupational Health or Industrial Medicine experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.

Provides medical support and guidance to employees who become ill while working on-site.

Promotes health, wellness, and preventive medicine initiatives across the facility.
