Job summary

KOSTAL Group is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the development of high voltage connector systems from concept to production. You will drive design along with DFA/DFM practices, coordinate validation with the test lab, and support customer builds as needed.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive/aerospace, 5 years in automotive connectors, and strong CAD skills (CATIA preferred). A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of related experience in automotive or aerospace industries.
  • 5 years of experience in automotive connectors, high voltage preferred.
  • Proficie ncy in CAD software; CATIA preferred; DFA/DFM awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, conceptualize and design high quality connector systems from concept through production.
  • Lead product development, validate designs per customer specs with the test lab.
  • Initiate and track DFMEA activities and engineering changes for robustness.
  • Develop DVP&R, tolerance stackups, and support customer builds at facilities.
  • Ensure DFA/DFM compliance and competitive concepts within market timing.

Description
Main Job Purpose

Develop, concept, design high quality connector systems within agreed project timing according to company procedures and customer requirements, leading the product development from start to production.

Role may include focus on conceptualization and initial design with hand-off to move to production.

Main Tasks
  • Develop high voltage connector systems according to customer and KOSTAL standards & procedures.
  • Ensure feasible, robust, innovative and cost effective designs in accordance to market requirements.
  • Initiates and tracks complete product validation according to customer specification in close relationship with KOSTAL test lab.
  • Initiates engineering changes in order to increase robustness and/or profitability or to accommodate customer requests.
  • Develop competitive design concepts within market timing requirements.
  • Assure design is according to DFA/DFM KOSTAL processes.
  • This position will require a high level of CAD development.
  • Support customer builds (as required) at their facilities.
  • Develops tolerance stack ups of the designed product to ensure robustness.
  • Leads and maintains DFMEA activities
  • Provide all required support and information regarding components and assemblies to all internal and external customers.
  • Develop DVP&R and test requests
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years related experience in automotive / aerospace industry
  • 5 years of experience in automotive connectors (high voltage experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred)
  • Proficient understanding of Automotive Sector – OEM’s – Tier 1/2
  • Solid understanding of DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
