Dematic’s Global Project Engineering organization seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop header steel support solutions for hanging automation systems, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and adhering to project requirements.

The role involves CAD-based design, BOM creation, and installation drawings for a range of conveyor and catwalk configurations, with occasional travel to customer sites.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1-3 years of successful experience in related field.
• Applied knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and technical drawings.
• Applied knowledge of Inventor software and/or Structural Design.
• FEA knowledge and fundamentals.

Responsabilidades

• Perform standard mechanical design work for projects.
• Design mechanical drawings such as header steel layouts, composites, safety, guarding, etc.
• Support quality audits and revisions to deliverables.
• Solve complex problems or refer to senior staff when needed.
• Communicate progress to peers, leads, and managers; remove roadblocks.
• Identify needs and create reference documents for less experienced engineers.
• Coordinate a small team of engineers; budget management.
• Travel to customer locations as required.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dematic’s Global Project Engineering organization, you will gather critical project information (building/joist design, Dematic system design, and project/customer requirements) to create header steel support solutions to hang the automation system from the building/support structure, on-time, and on-budget, while upholding critical checks and balances from the project team and customer.
This will require designing the header steel support solution into Dematic’s cad software to determine point loads, create and verify BOMs, and create installation drawings of the solution. Header steel solutions can range from a simple, single-line conveyor path to more complex, multi-line and multi-level conveyor and catwalk systems.

Tasks and Qualifications:

This is what you will do in This Role:

• Performs full range of standard work for the professional field
• Ensure OTD by leading or Designing mechanical Drawings such as: Header Steel (Structural Elements) Layouts, Composites, Safety, Pneumatic, Guarding, Netting, etc.
• Ensure Quality Audits, support cross audits and revisions to peers and/or less experienced engineers deliverables.
• Solve and refers complex unusual problems to others with more seniority.
• Communicate, solve and track progress status to peers, project leads and managers. Able to remove roadblocks.
• Takes responsibility and executes improvements that impact directly productivity and customer satisfaction.
• Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.
• Identify needs and create documents, material and/or solving problems references (trouble shooting) for less experienced engineers.
• Able to coordinate a small team of engineers in technical execution. Budget management.
• Travel on site might be required. Low but feasible opportunities to travel across a number of our customer locations in order to fulfill the work requirements. Using prescribed guidelines and policies

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor degree - Mechanical or Civil Engineering or any other related to Mechanical Design field
• Background in Material Handling/Automation industry, preferred.
• 1-3 years of successful experience in related field
• Applied knowledge of CAD software (AutoCad, SolidWorks, etc.) and Technical drawings
• Applied knowledge of Inventor software and or Structural Design.
• Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. (FEA)
