Job description

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, helps customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in rapidly expanding industries such as data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.

For more than 140 years, Johnson Controls has delivered performance where it really matters. Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services and an industry-leading field organization, we elevate customer performance, turn goals into real-world results and help move society forward.

Role Overview

This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling to support consistent production results. You will use Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methods to reduce waste, solve problems, and help build stable, efficient processes that meet quality and delivery expectations.

What you will do
  • Lead the design and implementation of stable production flow using Lean principles and continuous improvement tools.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and lower production cost.
  • Run Kaizen events, 5S activities, Value Stream Mapping, root cause analysis, and standard work initiatives.
  • Develop, improve, and validate manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes to meet production needs.
  • Partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support day-to-day manufacturing performance.
  • Support new product introduction and production readiness activities from early planning through launch.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and SOPs.
  • Monitor OEE, yield, downtime, and related production metrics, then drive corrective actions where needed.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities and long-term corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes follow applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Train and support production staff on Lean tools and improved manufacturing practices.
How you will do it
  • You will stay close to the work, observe production conditions directly, and remove barriers that prevent teams from achieving safe and effective output.
  • You will own your assignments with accountability, act with integrity, and keep safety and quality at the center of every improvement.
  • You will use facts, data, and root cause analysis to make practical decisions and improve processes every day.
  • You will work as one team with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering by sharing information openly and respecting different perspectives.
  • You will use Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping to drive measurable improvements, not just temporary fixes.
  • You will document changes clearly so process updates, work instructions, and standards are easy to follow and sustain.

  • Hands‑on analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams.

Nice to Have
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt, or a higher level certification.
  • Experience with automation, industrial equipment, or robotics.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for equipment or process design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, takt time, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Experience with PLCs or control systems.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
What do we offer?
