Caterpillar Inc. in Mexico is seeking a seasoned Operations/Quality Engineer to oversee the administration and continual improvement of quality management systems on site at our Torreón facility.

The role focuses on lean initiatives, process optimization, and sustained quality across manufacturing operations. You will lead teams, implement corrective actions, and partner with production, engineering and suppliers to ensure quality objectives are met while driving efficiency and reducing waste.

Formación

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations, Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience applying Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience supervising or leading teams.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead quality assurance projects and drive efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance strategies, processes, guidelines and control plans.
  • Lead corrective actions and preventive measures to meet quality targets.
  • Investigate trends in non-conformances with internal and external sources.
  • Lead, manage and develop multiple teams of quality staff to meet standards.
  • Drive data-based changes and review reports with QA, production, and engineering teams.

What You Will Do

Oversees the administration and continual improvement of quality management systems.

Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

Responsabilities
  • Leading projects related to quality assurance strategies but also to increase manufacturing processes efficiency using lean methodologies.
  • Supporting development of quality assurance strategies, processes, guidelines and control plans which assure quality and reliability of manufactured products.
  • Leading the development and implementation of corrective action and preventive measures to achieve quality targets.
  • Investigating and addressing trends with internal and external non-conformance.
  • Leading, managing and developing multiple teams, team leaders, quality specialists and inspectors to assure that quality standards are met.
  • Driving change based on data; reviewing reports to review with quality assurance, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve quality issues.
Skills You Have

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Quality Management System (QMS): Knowledge of Quality Management System's (QMS) functions, features, and capabilities; ability to design, implement, test, and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliances.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Basic Requirements

Education: Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations, Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Experience in: Application of Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma tools; Personnel management as a supervisor/leader (line and/or administrative)

English Level: Pre-Advanced

Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Master’s Degree in: Quality/Productivity, Business Administration (MBA), or Project Management
  • Training as a Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to train personnel, manage teams, and promote a culture of quality at the source.
  • English Level: Advanced
