OP in Mexico seeks an experienced Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to lead architecting, installing, and maintaining complex z/OS environments, including upgrades and third-party software.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operations, drive performance, and implement new features using SMP/E, z/OSMF, and IBM Utilities.

Formación

• 12+ years of professional experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in z/OS and ISVs.
• Expertise with SMP/E, z/OS upgrades, and ISV software deployments.
• Strong knowledge of IBM Utilities, JCL, and z/OS performance tuning.

Responsabilidades

• Perform system programming activities including configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E.
• Upgrade z/OS and RSU via z/OSMF Workflow.
• Architect and configure complex z/OS environments and third-party software.
• Support standardization, new features, and cross-team collaboration.
• Collaborate with storage, performance, capacity planning, security, and networking teams from a z/OS perspective.
• Work with staff across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment.
• Identify improvements and drive innovative changes with application teams.
• Plan roadmaps and communicate timelines to stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform standard system programming activities, such as configuration, installation & maintenance using SMP/E, as well as vendor software installations, in the mainframe environment.
• Perform Operating System upgrades and RSU maintenance via z/OSMF Workflow.
• Advanced System Management: Architect, install, and configure highly complex z/OS environments and third-party software.
• Support Software Standardization and new Feature implementations.
• Support other teams: storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from a z/OS perspective.
• Work with Mainframe System Programmers staff across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment.
• Assist team members in solving problems, driving innovative improvements, and making decisions.
• Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment. Work with application support teams and other internal customers to facilitate business initiatives.

Experience level:

• 12+ years of professional experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in z/OS and ISVs.

Technical key skills (Mandatory skills):

• Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products.
• Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product installation and Upgrades.
• Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.
• Operating system z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later with z/OSMF workflow execution.
• IODF, HCD Skillset to add new devices.
• Sysplex and config management (good to have).
• Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER/IEBCOPY/AMASPZAP/DFDSS).
• ISPF/TSO and other basics.
• Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST.
• Designing project plans (upgrades, maintenance, decom) with a task list for all stakeholders and communicating the timelines with delivery and the customer.
• Formulate roadmaps with all prerequisites to achieve project completion.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
• Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
• Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
• Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
