Cognizant in Mexico invites applications for a Mainframe Network / Communication Server Systems Programmer. You will install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS Communications Server components, ensuring high availability of critical enterprise systems across multiple LPARs.

The role focuses on VTAM/TCP-IP, EE, SNA, TLS/S SAF/RACF security, and performance tuning. Hybrid role in Guadalajara or Mexico City; advanced English required.

Formación

• Familiarity with OSA, HiperSockets, Sysplex networking.
• Security integration with TLS/SSL, AT-TLS, SAF/RACF.
• Network performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience with network automation and monitoring tools.

Responsabilidades

• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain IBM z/OS Communications Server components (VTAM, TCP/IP, EE, FTP, Telnet, TN3270).
• Manage SNA and TCP/IP networking, OSA Express, HiperSockets and Sysplex networking.
• Monitor performance, analyze bottlenecks and optimize throughput using RMF/SMF and related tools.
• Diagnose complex issues, coordinate with IBM support and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents.

We are seeking a Mainframe Network / Communication Server Systems Programmer, responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance management of IBM Communications Server and enterprise mainframe networking infrastructure on IBM z/OS platforms. The individual will support highly available enterprise environments consisting of multiple production and disaster recovery LPARs supporting mission-critical business applications. Should have experience in Datacenter migrations.

ADVANCED ENGLISH IS A MUST

Hybrid role in Guadalajara or Mexico City

Core Responsibilities

• System Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS Communications Server components including VTAM, TCP/IP, Enterprise Extender (EE), FTP, Telnet, TN3270, and related networking products. Apply software maintenance, PTFs, and version upgrades using SMP/E while ensuring compliance with vendor recommendations and organizational standards. Maintain network definitions, startup procedures, and configuration datasets.
• Network Infrastructure Management: Configure and administer SNA and TCP/IP networking environments. Support OSA Express adapters, HiperSockets, Sysplex Distributor, Dynamic VIPA (DVIPA), and Parallel Sysplex networking. Coordinate with distributed network teams to ensure end-to-end connectivity between mainframe and enterprise systems.
• Performance and Capacity Management: Monitor network performance, analyze communication bottlenecks, and optimize network throughput and response times. Utilize tools such as OMEGAMON for Networks, NetView, MainView, RMF, and SMF reports to identify anomalies and performance trends. Assist with capacity planning activities and network growth initiatives.
• Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex communication issues involving TCP/IP, VTAM, Enterprise Extender, SSL/TLS, and network security. Analyze packet traces, VTAM traces, dumps, and diagnostic logs to identify root causes. Work closely with network vendors, IBM support, application teams, and infrastructure teams to resolve production incidents.
