Job summary

Corning Inc. in Mexico seeks a technical lead in Division Engineering to guide mechanical design and automation projects.

You will lead delivery of new automation equipment, collaborate with external integrators, and ensure design packages meet Corning standards across global deployments. The role emphasizes hands-on design, cross-functional teamwork, and the ability to travel domestically and globally to deployment sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design, automation integration or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to learn, develop, and advance technical skills in mechanical design, process equipment development, and system integration.
• Understanding of mechanical design practices, equipment fabrication and assembly, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
• Ability to develop experimental plans focused on testing equipment, prototypes, and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and animation tools to visualize concepts.
• Ability to perform independent design reviews and lead mechanical design reviews.
• Strong communication of technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences within the organization.
• Highly motivated, results oriented, and customer focused.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment and contribute to a matrixed project team.
• Project Management Skills.
• Able to travel domestically and globally to Corning deployment locations or external automation integrator sites.
• Valid passport.

Responsibilities

• Provide process and mechanical design expertise for new equipment and system introductions, continuous improvements, and cost reductions.
• Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to deliver fully integrated automation equipment on-time and on-budget.
• Participate in all project phases from initiation to training and technology transfer.
• Ensure design packages are complete and documented per Corning standards.
• Prepare technical specifications for automation equipment development per PRIME and playbooks.
• Collaborate with project teams to solve automation problems and drive system success.
