EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Database Engineer to own large-scale Cassandra-based data infrastructure and drive reliability across critical operations.

You will lead a team, design NoSQL data models, optimize queries with proper indexing, and ensure robust backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery. Strong Linux/Java skills and experience with AWS Keyspaces or DataStax are highly valued.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
• At least 1 year leading development teams.
• Extensive experience designing Cassandra or comparable NoSQL platforms.
• Exposure to Astra or AWS Keyspaces technologies.
• Hands-on Cassandra data modeling and keyspace/table/index management.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and Java configuration settings.
• Experience with OpsCenter, DevCenter, Linux, and Spark.

Responsabilidades

• Map out Cassandra cluster rollouts by calculating expected data volumes and pinpointing hardware needs tied to data growth and throughput.
• Set up, install, and configure brand-new Cassandra clusters.
• Use monitoring solutions to track cluster uptime and performance.
• Convert and export stored information into different file formats for downstream applications.
• Leverage primary and secondary indexing strategies to ensure efficient queries.
• Perform data backups and recovery operations.
• Tune JVM, caching layers, and compaction parameters.
• Execute stress testing on Cassandra clusters and analyze results.
