Job summary

Celestica is seeking an entry-level Developing Controls Engineer for its Monterrey automation center. You will participate in Turn-Key projects with external integrators and in-house control development, gaining hands-on experience in PLC programming, HMI, and procurement tracking.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Automation Engineering and collaborate with global teams. This role requires strong technical foundations and learning agility in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, Computer, or Robotics Engineering.
• Entry level with 0–2 years in industrial automation or academic projects.
• Proficient in English and Spanish communication.
• Willingness to travel <10% and grow in automation engineering.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shop-floor process audits to baseline cycle times and identify bottlenecks.
• Document URS and SOW to validate automation concepts.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and benchmark Turn-Key solutions (60% scope).
• Assist in PLC logic programming and HMI layout development (40% scope).
• Track procurement, PO creation, vendor execution, and material arrivals.
• Support FAT/SAT and site commissioning activities.
• Maintain project schedules and progress updates using Excel/Smartsheet.
• Communicate status in weekly global team calls.
