Placements24 is seeking a Geothermal Energy Process Optimization Engineer to join our remote operations team in Mexico. You will analyze plant performance data, identify optimization opportunities, and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and reliability in geothermal power plants.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermodynamics and at least 6 years of process engineering experience in power generation or geothermal energy.

• Familiarity with geothermal power plant components and operations.
• Excellent problem-solving and proactive approach.
• Strong written and spoken Spanish; English desirable.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

About the Role

Our client, a pioneering force in the sustainable Energía sector, is seeking a highly skilled Geothermal Energy Process Optimization Engineer to join our remote operations team. This role is crucial for maximizing the efficiency and output of our geothermal power plants. You will be responsible for analyzing plant performance data, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance energy production and operational reliability. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in Mexico while contributing to a key area of renewable energy development.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data from geothermal power plants to identify trends, inefficiencies, and potential areas for optimization.
• Develop and implement process improvements for fluid handling, heat exchange, turbine operation, and environmental controls.
• Utilize process simulation software to model and test different operational scenarios and optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with plant operations teams, geologists, and engineers to diagnose and resolve complex process challenges.
• Design and oversee pilot tests for new optimization techniques or equipment modifications.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards related to geothermal energy production.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on process performance, optimization initiatives, and project outcomes.
• Stay current with advancements in geothermal technology, process engineering, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs and operating manuals.
• Contribute to the development of predictive maintenance strategies based on process performance data.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on thermodynamics and process design.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering, specifically within the power generation or geothermal energy sector.
• Demonstrated experience in optimizing complex industrial processes.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and complex technical information.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics cycles.
• Familiarity with geothermal power plant components and operations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
• Proficiency in English is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
