Responsibilities include leading design teams, managing installations, and ensuring documentation accuracy. Formación

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or related field.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for the design, advancement, and implementation of commercial integration initiatives for automated bio-devices for the global poultry, livestock, and aquaculture industries. The role will work closely with a cross functional team comprised of design, automation, controls, quality, program managers, supply chain, IT, and production to transition new products from prototype to production, installation, and sustained in‑the‑field operations. This vacancy is to be filled with a highly creative, seasoned, hands‑on manager, who will lead design teams to deliver engineered‑to‑order automated vaccination and poultry sex identification systems in Mexico. Responsibilities range from initial characterization of customer operations, through the design of the installation and workflow, negotiation of customer acceptance of the design, and execution of site acceptance testing. This position currently reports to the Senior Director of Operations.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide strong technical knowledge and leadership to mechanical and electrical designers to deliver engineered‑to‑order system‑level automation solutions.
  • Interact with sales/marketing and customers to identify requirements to integrate automated vaccination and poultry sex identification systems into existing automation systems.
  • Deliver system level installation design packages that will include 2D & 3D layout drawings, electrical one‑line schematics, and other documents accurately and on‑time.
  • Provide on‑site, hands‑on leadership for installation events and pre‑installation assessment visits at customer facilities (poultry hatcheries). Includes weekdays and weekends.
  • Provide project management for custom engineering and installation projects including managing schedule, budget, TARGAN engineering/manufacturing efforts, customer coordination, and third‑party contractor coordination.
  • Work interactively with R&D Controls Engineering to deliver system level automation customizations.
  • Work interactively with Field Installation and Support staff to deliver timely resolution of field technical issues.
  • Mentor early‑experience colleagues to raise the skills of the commercial integration team within the systems engineering organization.
  • Communicate effectively across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Lead a team of manufacturing, process, component, and test engineers to integrate new products and support existing products in manufacturing.
  • Ensure the current as‑built design, bill‑of‑materials, and the change history for every deployed product, system, and sub‑systems is fully documented and made available to the engineering and operations teams for reference.
  • Advocate for sustainable design principles, materials, and methodologies in product development.
  • Stay updated with the latest sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies in the industrial automation space.
  • Characterize operations at customer site (initially in chicken hatcheries) including available space, existing workflow, existing equipment, installation ingress/egress, utility availability (electric, compressed air, water, drainage).
  • Develop layouts for integration of TARGAN equipment into customer operations including physical layout, integration with existing equipment, utilities, and workflow.
  • Collaborate with customers and field service representatives to refine layouts and find creative solutions to difficult installation conditions.
  • Together with a team of mechanical designers, develop complete designs with schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing organization to ensure correct assembly of required components and execution of factory acceptance tests.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve problems during the installation process and oversee site acceptance tests.
  • Collaborate with field service representatives to ensure smooth commissioning of the new equipment.
Key Competencies & Skills
  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering system level industrial automation solutions involving motion control, vision‑based sensors, industrial PLCs, industrial PCs, and/or industrial network architectures.
  • Demonstrated customer‑facing skills related to gathering customer requirements and delivering world class technical support.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven record of team development and mentorship.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, certifications, and best practices related to sustainability in industrial automation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Prior experience in the industrial automation equipment industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliances.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Proficient in designing systems in SolidWorks (required) and electrical systems in AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical (preferred).
  • Familiarity with machine safety standards such as ISO 13849 and UL508a.
  • Familiarity with CE and UL certification.
  • Experience designing sheet metal components and welded assemblies.
  • Experience developing motion‑based electro‑mechanical sub‑systems.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience integrating motion‑based electro‑mechanical and/or automation equipment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading technical teams of 2–4 people.
Working Conditions

Work is performed inside a flex space building consisting of offices, open desk space, laboratory, machine shop, and a manufacturing floor. Level of noise is usually quiet in the office environment and temperature controlled. Noise levels are elevated in the warehouse space where temperatures can vary depending on the outside elements and weather. Travel is required at approximately 25%, including some weekends to support installation activities.
