ICU Medical in Mexico is seeking an engineer to evaluate, start up and optimize high-volume automated assembly and packaging equipment. You will develop engineering improvement projects to enhance equipment and processes, and collaborate with multiple departments to drive efficiency.

The role requires leadership across project teams, strong PLC/HMI/SCADA skills, and a focus on meeting time, cost and quality targets while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Formación

  • BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5–8 years of experience with automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsabilidades

  • Evaluation, start-up and optimization of high-volume automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Develop engineering improvement projects as equipment and process enhancements.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Lead project teams with capacity expansion plans and initiatives.
  • Collaborate across departments including Microbiology, Regulatory, Quality Assurance and Marketing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal procedures.

About the Role

Evaluation, start-up and optimization of high-volume automated assembly and packaging equipment. Develop engineering improvement projects as equipment and process enhancement among others.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluation, start-up and optimization of high-volume automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Conduct site prep and Installation of new equipment.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.Assists Manufacturing leadership team with capacity expansion plans and initiatives.
  • Able to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop close working relationships with, and collaborate with, personnel at other Smiths Medical locations especially where a regular exchange of information is required.
  • Develop close working relationships with, and collaborate with, other departments, particularly Microbiology, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Quality Assurance and Marketing.
  • Strive to deliver required aspects of each assigned project to planned time, cost and quality targets, monitoring progress and taking necessary action either to meet established targets or agree new targets.
  • Understand the clinical requirement, competitive products, manufacturing implications, cost requirements, Company strategy and required date targets relevant to assigned projects.
  • Effectively contribute to projects when assigned as a member of the project team.
  • Respond to technical support requests (TSRs).
  • Collate, prepare, and submit components, products and materials for testing.
  • Devise test programmes and protocols for internal and external laboratory testing.
  • Strong contribution on VIP program (Value Improvement Projects).
  • Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.
  • Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, etc.; and HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc.
  • Experience on panel design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities are expected with this position.
  • Experience reading and red-lining drawings, electrical and pneumatic circuits and diagrams.
  • A proven track record in engineering leadership as well as the ability to develop and implement standard engineering practices, as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completion.
  • This person will be the project technical lead and may be responsible for some project management activities.
  • Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes).
  • Engage others, promote and participate in 5s initiatives to contribute in the continuous improvement of our site.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5-8 yrs. Experience with automated manufacturing equipment
Required Skills
  • Familiarity and knowledge of quality systems and procedures
  • Strong Mechanical skills
  • Working knowledge on control and programming of the following:
  • Pneumatic actuators and devices
  • Pick and Place units
  • Servo motors and other motion control equipment
  • Automated Vision Systems
  • Vibratory feeding Systems
  • Optics and sensors
  • Ultrasonic Welding background a plus
