Hussmann in Mexico seeks an NPD Lead to drive high-complexity new product development projects across refrigeration systems, controllers, doors, and platforms. Lead design, testing, and implementation from concept to production, coordinating cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes robust design, NPD processes, and translating customer specs into engineering requirements, focusing on reliability, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Proven experience leading complex NPD/NPI projects in refrigeration or related domains.
• Excellent communication in Advanced English and Spanish.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Data-driven problem solving and implementation of sustainable solutions.
• Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration principles.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and DFx practices.
• Ability to translate customer needs into engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

Job description

NPD lead will be responsible of leading and provide solutions to high complexity new product development projects focused on new products introduction, designing new systems (refrigeration, controllers, doors, etc) across different product lines, product reliability improvements projects and new plataform products based on business needs.

Responsabilidades

• Develop new product development/introduction projects based on the business needs (pipeline approved) . Finding design solution from concept – desing – testing - Implementation.
• Apply the robust design and NPD Process to all NOD/NPI projects to assure design quality and reliability based on customer expectation and project goals.
• Provide strategic direction around customer specifications, standards, and market trends in commercial refrigeration as well regulations related to Hussmann products to anticipate planned changes in design guides for engineering members.
• Develop a training plan as well as evaluation metrics for Monterrey Engineering NPD team.
• Create and standardize design tools for Engineering members.
• Mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers
• Responsible for managing projects requiring multiple components and subsystems integration across the different product lines.
• Technical support to translate customer needs into design objectives as well as system requirements development. (Using tools such as QFD).

Calificaciones

• BS/MS degree(s) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Electrical, Mechatronics or any similar career.
• Verifiable experience leading complex projects related with Thermodynamics, Mechanical and Electrical design systems as well as able to engage in conversations in Technical English
• Excellent communication skills, oral & written (Advanced English)
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis, problem solving, and implementation of sustainable solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong track record of establishing priorities, driving accountability, and consistently delivering results aligned with business objectives.
• Ability to understand customer expectations and convert them into engineering requirements, specifications, and innovative technical solutions.

• Advanced expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration principles, and system performance analysis to resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Extensive proficiency in electrical systems, control logic, subsystem integration, parameter configuration, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Strong background in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), process capability analysis, and quality-focused product development, working closely with Manufacturing to ensure robust and scalable designs.
