Job summary

ZF LIFETEC in Durango, MX is seeking an Engineer I Mechanical to support product design, development, validation, and technical documentation for automotive applications. You will work with cross-functional teams, create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models in Creo, and assist with engineering changes and Windchill documentation.

The role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and adherence to customer specifications and industry standards, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• 0–3 years in automotive engineering.
• Familiarity with 2D drawings, 3D CAD; Creo preferred.
• GD&T knowledge and basic product development understanding.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, and testing of automotive products and components.
• Support engineering design modifications and improvements to existing products.
• Create, review, and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using Creo.
• Support engineering change requests, deviations, and documentation management using Windchill.

• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities.

General Description

The Product and Applications Engineer I will support product design, development, validation, and engineering activities for automotive applications, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and applicable industry standards.

Tasks

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of automotive products and components.
• Support engineering design modifications and improvements to existing products.
• Create, review, and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using PTC Creo.
• Support engineering change requests, deviations, and documentation management using Windchill.
• Assist in maintaining engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product documentation.
• Participate in technical design reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities.
• Review test results and assist in preparing technical reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
• Support engineering activities during program launches and serial production.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for product and process improvements.
• Monitor assigned activities, report progress, and elevate technical issues when necessary.
• Support the implementation of engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other engineering-related activities as assigned.

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with 2D drawings and 3D CAD software; PTC Creo preferred.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings, drafting standards, and GD&T.
• Basic knowledge of product development and validation processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams
